Sleeping During Pregnancy

Pregnant women who are natural tummy sleepers may wonder if stomach sleeping during pregnancy is safe for their baby. Sleep is very important for the pregnant woman and later on in pregnancy, any sleep is better than none. If you follow the rules, however, the left lateral position is the one recommended over stomach or back sleeping positions.

If the pain is getting unbearable, you may want to get a prenatal massage. I got mine when my back was very sore, and I just wished I went there a lot sooner. First of, the table is designed for pregnant women, and guess what, you end up lying down on your stomach. But of course there is a hole in your stomach so the baby stays in the right position. What a great feeling to be laying face down again. Second, the actual massage will really reveal the pain, and relax you 100%. If the discomfort continues do couple more of those, and you will feel much better.

It's getting difficult for my partner and I to get a decent night's sleep. Getting and staying comfortable in bed can be one of your greatest challenges during your pregnancy, especially once your belly starts to grow during the last six months of your pregnancy. Sharing a bed with your partner who is also trying to get comfortable can make things that bit more difficult.

The amount of sleep you get while pregnant can greatly influence the amount of time you spend in labor. Studies show that women who get less than 6 hours of sleep per night while pregnant, go through about 29 hours of labor where as those who got more than 7 hours of sleep averaged about 17 ½ hours of labor. Studies also show that women who got less than 5 hours of sleep a night had a greater chance of having a C-section for delivery.

The frequent urge to urinate: Your kidneys are working harder to filter the increased volume of blood (30% to 50% more than you had before pregnancy) moving through your body, and this filtering process results in more urine. Also, as your baby grows and the uterus gets bigger, the pressure on your bladder increases. This means more trips to the bathroom, day and night. The number of nighttime trips may be greater if your baby is particularly active at night.'

Lunesta is a hypnotic group medicine. It provides you relief from problems like sleeplessness. Generally Lunesta is used to treat ailments like insomnia. Constituents of this medicine acts by relaxing your brain muscles and inducing sleep. Though Lunesta do not possess any proven dependency symptoms, it is advisable that you use Lunesta only on prescription by a qualified medical practitioner.

Now if you do want to get a good night sleep you can try sleeping on your sides. Left side has a preference, as your uterus will not press on your liver, while left side only has a colon. Further more, when sleeping on your sides, you take the pressure of your back. However, you should NOT sleep in the soft bad, but in the firmer mattress. Soft bad makes your spine shift and this can cause a terrible back pain.

If you are sedentary, try getting more exercise. Walking is super easy to do. Find a walking partner and walk at least 3 days a week, 30 minutes at a time. Not only is exercise good for your muscles, but it will help prevent excess weight gain and improve your energy levels. It will also prepare you for a healthier labor.
